Eagles Snap Counts Week 4 vs. Buccaneers
The Eagles escaped Tampa with a 31-25 win, but the snap counts tell a story of a team still searching for balance. The Birds played 57 snaps on offense and 72 on defense. While the record sits at 4-0, the cracks are obvious. Let’s run it back by position.
Eagles remain undefeated after fake Tush Push and Special Teams Magic vs. Bucs
Quarterback
- 57 snaps: Jalen Hurts
Hurts looked like two different quarterbacks.
First half: 15/16 for 130 yards and two shovel-pass TDs, plus 42 rushing yards — total command.
Second half: 0-for-8. A deep miss to A.J. Brown that could’ve been the knockout blow summed it up. The offense completely stalled, and Tampa nearly stole it back.
Running Back
- 48 snaps: Saquon Barkley
- 8 snaps: A.J. Dillon
- 3 snaps: Will Shipley
Barkley’s workload is still massive (91 touches in 4 games), but the efficiency isn’t there. He’s averaging just 3.1 yards per carry vs. 6.0 at this point last season which obviously, can’t be considered a sustainable formula.
Wide Receiver
- 55 snaps: A.J. Brown
- 52 snaps: DeVonta Smith
- 31 snaps: Jahan Dotson
- 5 snaps: John Metchie
Brown had nine targets but only two catches for seven yards — then posted a cryptic tweet. Smith saw just two targets and went silent postgame. The frustration in the WR room is real, and the lack of explosive plays shows it.
Tight End
- 43 snaps: Dallas Goedert
- 28 snaps: Grant Calcaterra
- 8 snaps: Cameron Latu
- 4 snaps: Kylen Granson
Goedert played the Andy Reid role perfectly, catching two gadgety TDs. He left briefly after a hip shot but returned. If he’s banged up again, this passing game could get even uglier.
Offensive Line
- 57 snaps each: Mailata, Dickerson, Jurgens
- 52 snaps: Tyler Steen
- 43 snaps: Lane Johnson
- 14 snaps: Fred Johnson
- 5 snaps: Matt Pryor
Lane Johnson went down again (shoulder), and Steen left with a knee issue before gutting it out with a sleeve. This unit is officially in survival mode heading into October.
Edge Rushers
- 52 snaps: Jalyx Hunt
- 36 snaps: Za’Darius Smith
- 30 snaps: Josh Uche
- 15 snaps: Patrick Johnson
- 4 snaps: Ogbo Okoronkwo
Through four games, the Eagles’ edge group has combined for 0.5 sacks. That’s beyond alarming.
Interior Defensive Line
- 49 snaps: Jalen Carter
- 48 snaps: Moro Ojomo
- 39 snaps: Jordan Davis
- 22 snaps: Byron Young
- 2 snaps: Ty Robinson
Ojomo delivered the clutch sack on Tampa’s final drive, and Davis had another chase-down stop. Carter’s shoulder limited him, but he fought back in and was involved in both game-clinching plays.
Linebacker
- 72 snaps: Zack Baun
- 70 snaps: Jihaad Campbell
- 1 snap: Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
Baun (8 tackles, 1 sack) and Campbell (INT) continue to carry the second level. Campbell also got burned on a deep ball, but the rookie is making impact plays every week.
Secondary
- 72 snaps each: Quinyon Mitchell, Cooper DeJean, Andrew Mukuba, Reed Blankenship
- 59 snaps: Kelee Ringo
- 3 snaps: Parry Nickerson
- 1 snap each: Sydney Brown, Marcus Epps
Mitchell had his breakout game. The Bucs weirdly went after him, and he shut it down. DeJean brought physicality all game. Ringo, filling in for Adoree’ Jackson, was uneven — some missed tackles, but nothing fatal.
Final Word
The Eagles are undefeated, but it feels fragile. Hurts disappeared after halftime, the WRs are openly frustrated, Lane Johnson’s hurt, and the pass rush is basically nonexistent. What’s keeping them afloat? Timely turnovers, special teams sparks, and a couple of young defenders — Baun, Campbell, Mitchell — showing they belong.
The Eagles get Denver next. If the offense doesn’t clean up fast, that perfect record won’t last long.
