Nick Castellanos takes a not-so-subtle shot at the Mets for missing the playoffs
There’s nothing quite like a Nick Castellanos podcast appearance. The Phillies outfielder hopped on Foul Territory where he was asked if he was surprised the hapless Mets missed the playoffs after seeing them play all year.
Nick Castellanos said he wouldn’t talk shit, and then immediately proceeded to talk shit:
Nick Castellanos says it's always a little surprising when a team [Mets] goes out and spends $765M on one player and doesn't make the playoffs.

You know what, Casty? I’d have to agree with you there. I get that the Phillies have a near equally massive payroll, but there’s some clear differences between the two teams.
- The Phillies’ largest contract on the book remains Bryce Harper’s $330 million deal; a massive underpay in retrospect compared to Juan Soto’s $765 million megadeal.
- The Phillies haven’t missed the playoffs in four years.
The one thing I don’t agree with Castellanos on here is that it’s not really surprising when the Mets overpromise and underdeliver. I understand they knocked the Phils out of the playoffs last year, but this LOLMets tradition has been around for ages.
