Eagles did not lose because of officiating, but for the love of God can someone teach these people how to do their jobs correctly
The Philadelphia Eagles finally dropped their first game of the season on Sunday — their first loss in a Jalen Hurts start that he actually finished since September 29th, 2024. And yeah, it’s easy to point the finger at the refs, because every fanbase does that after a loss. But let’s be honest — that’s not why they lost.
Still, for the love of God, someone needs to fix NFL officiating. I don’t know what it’s going to take. Making these guys full-time employees would be a great start — I’ve said that before — but somehow, every single weekend turns into another officiating circus.
Sunday’s Eagles game was no different. Blown call after blown call, both ways. The one everyone’s losing their mind over? The missed pass interference on Dallas Goedert at the end. And yeah, that one was brutal.
Eagles should’ve been setup with a 1st and goal from the 4
That’s about as bad as it gets. We’ve seen flags thrown for way less — the James Bradberry “hold” on the Eagles in Super Bowl 57 immediately comes to mind.
And that wasn’t the only screw-up from Sunday’s crew. There was the botched intentional grounding that bailed out the Broncos in the 4th quarter. The ticky-tack unnecessary roughness on Zack Baun on a huge third down with under four minutes left. The other ticky-tack call on Saquon for not being “set” before Hurts uncorked that bomb to Smitty on fourth down.
Again, I can’t say this enough — the refs weren’t the reason the Eagles lost. If you’re in a position where the officials can decide your fate, that’s on you. But the refs are absolutely ruining the game. Point blank.
Every single week, Twitter is full of blatantly bad officiating clips. It’s the same conversation on every major sports show. Players have to answer questions about it after every game. Officials do too, technically — but it’s behind closed doors, off camera. Maybe that needs to change. Maybe accountability is what’s missing.
Refs aren’t fined for mistakes. They’re not suspended for missing calls. Meanwhile, Saquon gets slapped with a $70K fine for lowering his shoulder — on a play that wasn’t even flagged in real time. The NFL has no problem retroactively “correcting” player mistakes, but when it comes to officials? Nothing.
It’s a fucking joke. And look, I don’t envy refs. It’s probably the worst job on Earth, which makes me question the kind of person who willingly signs up for it. What’s the incentive? They’re not even paid that well, and they’re not full-time employees, which I’m guessing means no benefits either.
The NFL has unlimited money and resources. If they actually wanted to fix officiating, they could — easily. But instead, they keep tweaking rules, overcomplicating the game, and refusing to give refs the tools to improve. It’s an ass-backwards system that just keeps getting worse.
So, there are only two logical solutions. One: make refs full-time employees and train them year-round to ensure you’ve got the best of the best every week. Or two: simplify the damn rulebook and stop changing it every offseason. I’d bet the NFL would lean toward the first option — but who the hell knows.
All I know for sure is that officiating is ruining football. Get it under control, Roger. You dumb bitch.

Both teams are in trouble better get your head out of your ass
