WATCH: Jonathan Gannon freaks out and punches Emari Demercado after bone-headed fumble
I haven’t seen Jonathan Gannon with this much fire in his gut since he told a bunch of Eagles fans they were going to gut the 49ers in the NFC Championship game. Honestly, it’s nice to see for once.
For those who missed it, Cardinals running back Emari Emercado committed the cardinal sin of fumbling the ball right before reaching the end zone. I don’t know how this keeps happening, but Gannon has clearly had enough of it.
After the play, Gannon confronted Demercado, screaming in his face and then punching him in the chest before walking away.
Jonathan Gannon was PISSED
Some are saying he should be fired over this. I wouldn’t go that far. Travis Kelce tries to kill Andy Reid on the sideline at least five times a year and that’s written off as “tough love.” I’d put this in that category as well.
Demercado barely saw the field after this and probably won’t play much the rest of the year because of it. I just wish Jonathan Gannon showed this kind of fight while he was here in Philly. Maybe we wouldn’t have had to wait until last year to get our second Super Bowl.
