Alec Bohm has no idea why he’s swinging the bat, and neither does anybody else
The Phillies Game 2 loss to the Dodgers went from bad to worse after players started talking to the media. Alec Bohm was asked about handling big moments and, with a thousand yard stare, said that he has no idea what he’s doing at the plate this postseason.
Alec Bohm doesn’t even know why he’s swinging the bat:
“I think there is some big spots where I think you’re trying so hard that it just gets you. Everything is so heightened and you’re so hyper focused that you see something, and you don’t even know why you swung. It just happens. That’s the part of the game where you gotta try to… pic.twitter.com/Jn3DetXlxr

Honestly, I can’t say I’m surprised. I haven’t been able to figure out what his plan at the plate has been this postseason, and neither has pretty much anyone else watching these games.
I mean, just look at this guy. He looks like he just got back from France in WWI. It’s genuinely concerning when it comes down to it.
Alec Bohm has shown us – and now point blank told us – that he cannot handle the pressure of playoff baseball. Don’t get me wrong, I know it’s tough, but that’s why these guys get paid millions of dollars to play a game.
Just look at this at-bat in the bottom of the 6th. 2-0 count, two men on and he sees two pitches way off the plate. What does he do with the third pitch that’s damn near in the dirt? Of course, he chases it and gets absolutely nothing out of it. Despicable.

I quite literally said, “Why the hell is he swinging at that?” multiple times last night. Unfortunately, it looks like he doesn’t know either. Not exactly an encouraging sign for Game 3 in Los Angeles tonight.
Sadly, Alec Bohm is the softest Philadelphia athlete I’ve seen in a long while. The city has had a love-hate relationship with him during his tenure that’s mostly trended towards hate the last couple of seasons. And shit like this is exactly why.

I’ve said this for 3 years that Long has to go. Now I think Thompson should join. There is zero evidence that offensively this team has any idea what they are doing at the plate. Almost all of them go up there thinking pitchers are grooving them pitches in the zone. Don’t they know that the rest of the league knows they don’t have to throw them anything good to hit? That is in the coaches too. The players don’t have the mental fortitude or patience to do what it takes to win. Sadly I think we are a regular season team.
