Report: Eagles Pro Bowl guard could miss 1-2 weeks with ankle injury
Eagles left guard Landon Dickerson went down with an ankle injury during Sunday’s loss to the Broncos, and according to The Inquirer’s Jeff McLane, he could miss one or two games while he recovers.
Next Man Up for the Eagles’ Offensive Line
This is exactly the kind of setback the Eagles didn’t need heading into a short week. They’ve got the Giants on Thursday night and then a road trip to Minnesota the following week. Luckily, they’ll have a 10-day layoff until they travel to Minnesota. Should give Landon plenty of time to get right.
Brett Toth filled in for Dickerson against Denver and will likely get the start against New York. He’s been serviceable in the past, but losing a Pro Bowl-level guard who protects Jalen Hurts’ blind side is a major blow. This offensive line is the heartbeat of the Eagles offense — every bit of balance, power, and rhythm runs through those guys up front.
Barkley and Calcaterra Updates
For what it’s worth, Saquon Barkley (knee) and Grant Calcaterra (oblique) also showed up on Monday’s injury report. McLane says Barkley is expected to play, while Calcaterra will likely miss the Giants game. So it’s not all bad news, but it’s definitely not great.
The Eagles have weathered injuries before but depth will be tested again this week. The offensive line has always been Philly’s secret weapon, and missing Dickerson for even a couple of games could throw things out of sync.
If there’s a silver lining, it’s that this team has been here before. Between Jeff Stoutland’s coaching wizardry and the overall toughness of this group, the Eagles can survive this stretch. Still, it’s another reminder that in the NFL, especially for Philly, the grind never stops, and neither does the injury report.
The Eagles are banged up, bruised, and still expected to win. Nothing new in Philadelphia.
