Phillies fans have been put through the ringer just two games into Red October.

Just when you’re 99.9% sure you’re checked out, the Phillies pull you right back into the trap. One second you’re sinking into the couch, doomscrolling to distract yourself from the postseason misery, and the next, you’re reborn into the chaos—ninth inning, no outs, down a run, and a runner already in scoring position.

That small sliver of hope is just enough life to fully convince you the team is going to do the unthinkable and rally to beat the Dodgers to even the series 1-1 with the next two out West in Los Angeles.

Alec Bohm, JT Realmuto, and Nick Castellanos hand you and the otherwise embarrassing Phillies lineup a spark and you’re back on your feet thinking you might have a heart attack and float into the high heavens if The Fightins finally decide to show up in Red October.

Next thing you know, the Phillies rip your heart out yet again, and you’re back in hell with the rest of the city, foolish enough to believe that we had a chance at redemption.

I still can’t believe what I saw last night.

The Los Angeles Dodgers were begging the Phillies to take Game 2 and keep the NLDS interesting for a few more nights and our guys just refused to take the offer. The odds were going nuclear. The Phillies odds to win the game were jumping from (+1600) to around (+150) once Casty ripped that double to pull the Phillies within a run.

After that? Well, you already know what happened so there’s literally no reason to run through the pain and misery again. It was just the same story and the same result from the same losers.
