David Ortiz butchers Yankees rookie Cam Schlittler’s name in brutal fashion

Yankees rookie pitcher Cam Schlittler absolutely tore up the Red Sox in the Wild Card. He’s set to take the mount for Game 4 with the season on the line, so MLB on FOX crew did a quick feature on him, including how to pronounce his particularly awkward last name.

David Ortiz wasn’t even close, calling Cam Schlittler “Hitler” on the live broadcast:

I don’t know what the producers at FOX were thinking having Big Papi even attempt to say this guy’s name. If it wasn’t Hitler, it was 100% going to be Shitter or Diddler or something insane. This was the broadcast equivalent of a hospital ball to Ortiz.

Considering he is a Massachusetts native and grew up a Red Sox fan but now plays for the Yankees, some Sox fans might consider that an apt comparison. Some diehards could even say he’s worse than Hitler. I wouldn’t say that, but I’m sure somebody has already.

Now, this isn’t an endorsement of that Austrian guy, but Cam Hitler does have a nice ring to it. “Hi, Cam Hitler. Damn glad to mee ya.” Take it for a spin, see how it feels.

After a few goes myself, it definitely rolls off the tongue. Just don’t go throwing it around willy nilly.
