Silva developed through the Baseball Softball Vercelli system, where he helped capture the U15 Scudetto championship. He shined on the big stage, going 3-for-4 with a home run in the semifinal against Crocetta and earning the save with three strikeouts in the final against the Torre Pedrera Falcons.
Despite his age, Silva made his Serie A debut this year with Settimo Baseball Club, contributing to the club’s survival in Italy’s top league. Across 20 games, he posted a .243/.303/.343 line with a home run, two doubles, and a triple, showing impressive poise and maturity for a teenager facing seasoned competition.
Silva’s breakout performance came with Team Italy’s U18 national team, managed by Giuseppe Mazzanti, where he hit .481/.548/.741 in eight games. His strong play, including two triples, three doubles, and seven RBIs, earned him a spot on the WBSC All-World Team.
Silva has represented Italy at both the U12 and U15 European Championships and gained additional international experience with the Tenerife Marlins in Spain’s U15 Championship.
For the Phillies, Silva’s signing highlights a growing focus on international scouting and player development. For Silva, it marks the next step in a journey that began on local fields in Northern Italy and now leads to one of baseball’s most storied organizations.
At just 16, Patrick Silva has already proven he can handle the spotlight. The Phillies may have found one of Europe’s brightest young stars.
