Shohei Ohtani

The Phillies have neutralized Shohei Ohtani and MLB has no clue what to post about on social media

If you’ve been watching this NLDS, you’ve probably noticed that MLB’s golden boy Shohei Ohtani has done next to nothing at the plate. Even so, the league is dying to get some Ohtani content out there, even as the Phillies are drubbing him and the Dodgers at home.

MLB’s social team was grasping at straw trying to make it all about Shohei Ohtani:

MLB went 0-3 on this tweet as far as I’m concerned. 1. Not a home run. 2. Caught at the warning track. 3. Not even a remotely wild play. That’s three strikes and you’re out, MLB social team. That’s almost as bad as Ohtani’s stats at the plate this NLDS.

For context, Shohei Ohtani is hitting .071 with a hit and an RBI in 3 games in the 2025 NLDS. Just look at these putrid numbers.

Game 1: 0-4, BB, 4 K
Game 2: 1-5, RBI, 2 K
Game 3: 0-5, K

So, yeah, he’s been a non-factor at the plate and clearly Major League Baseball has no clue what to do on social media. It’s honestly embarrassing to watch them flail around helplessly when there’s plenty of interesting things to post about literally dozens of other players this postseason.

But at the same time, this pleases me greatly. As long as MLB is running around like chickens with their heads cut off trying to find an interesting Ohtani moment, the Phillies have a chance in this series.

Very real and legitimate journalist. I don't see a loss on the schedule.
