Cristopher Sanchez Umpire Missed Strike Alex Call

Not that it matters, but Cristopher Sanchez said umpire Mark Wegner apologized for missing what should have been a pivotal called strike against Alex Call

It’s no secret that there were a ton of missed calls in yesterday’s deciding Game 4 of the NLDS between the Philadelphia Phillies and Los Angeles Dodgers.

Am I someone that’s immediately going to blame the umpires for the Phillies losing? Absolutely not. There’s a laundry list of problems with that baseball team and umpires shitting the bed is pretty low on the list.

It is interesting that Cristopher Sanchez told the media that the home plate umpire actually apologized to him after yesterday’s game for blowing what should have been a called strike on Alex Call.

Cristopher Sanchez says umpire Mark Wegner apologized to him

Not that it matters, but are we really sure that the umpire apologized for missing the call? Maybe there was an admittance that the call was missed?

I know everyone is emotional right now but something tells me that’s not true.

Cristopher Sanchez was visibly pissed after that and rightfully so. If anything, him saying that he got an apology was more shade at what was clearly a blown call that led to Alex Call scoring tying run after he walked on the next pitch.

Regardless, it doesn’t really matter. Cristopher Sánchez went into Dodger Stadium and showed why he’s one of the best pitchers in baseball. He tossed 6.1 innings in Game 4, allowing just five hits, a walk and a run while striking out five.

Honestly, the called strike on Kyle Schwarber was even worse

Overall, the game was called well, but the misses couldn’t have game at a worse time.

Mark Wegner Scorecard:

Even then, there’s just too many “ifs” for me and I’m not going to complain about the umpires when the top three in this order combined to go 1-for-14 in an elimination game and overall, had a shitty series.

It’s hard to win games when that happens. Full stop.

Phillies Fans: Trea Turner, Bryce Harper, and Kyle Schwarber went 1-for-14 in an elimination game

You can literally fire off a “maybe” every day until Spring Training 2026. It gets us no where. The Phillies had four years to win a World Series. They did not. Now it’s time to blow the majority of this roster up and build something better.
