Sixers fans don’t care anymore but early signs point to Joel Embiid giving us a reason to believe again
Full transparency…the Sixers and Joel Embiid have officially hit “we’ll believe it when we see it” territory with this fanbase.
The lack of interest around this team is staggering. Every post, every clip, every bit of content about them is met with a collective shrug. Nobody’s clicking, nobody’s commenting, and frankly, nobody cares.
Obviously, you can’t blame the fanbase for the lack of interest.
For the past decade, this organization has dragged its fans through basketball purgatory with freak injuries, collapses, front-office missteps, and the kind of playoff heartbreak that only Philly sports could deliver.
Add in a total lack of transparency from ownership, zero connection with the fanbase, and an overall feeling that this team just… doesn’t get it and you’ve got a recipe for apathy.
Out of nowhere, Sixers fans were given something interesting in yesterday’s Blue & White scrimmage down in Wilmington, Delaware on Sunday.
Joel Embiid is… back?
During the team’s annual scrimmage, a few brave souls who still care enough to show up gave us our first real look at Joel Embiid since February.
Guess what? He looked damn good.
No brace. No limp. No grimacing. Just Embiid was just moving, running, and playing basketball like the MVP version of himself. It’s not hyperbole to say this might be the first genuinely encouraging Sixers update in years.

Could the Sports Gods Be Shifting the Energy?
Maybe the sports gods decided Philly had suffered enough. Maybe the Phillies’ collapse, the Flyers’ growing pains, and the Eagles’ Super Bowl hangover-mediocrity this fall were all some sort of cosmic sacrifice to give the Sixers one last chance at redemption.
I’m not saying I believe that… but deep down, every single one of us is praying for just one healthy playoff run with Embiid. Just one. That’s all we’ve ever asked for.

Nick Nurse Says It’s All Progress
I know the following quote is still mostly bullshit and doesn’t really provide any type of update, let alone clarity, but Nick Nurse did sound pretty encouraged on Joel Embiid’s performance on Sunday.
“I knew this would be the first time you guys had seen him for a long time,” Nurse said. “He’s been out there playing. Again, just trying to continue to progress. Today was a good progression day. Lots of running, lots of 5-on-5, lots of 5-on-0. And then he went out there and did his thing. He shot the ball well, he scored well, he orchestrated the offense well. I thought he ran pretty good as well — both directions.”
I mean come on, we’ll that that. That’s as optimistic as you’ll ever hear Nick Nurse sound.
Again, I get it. Nobody’s suddenly “back in” on this team. The Sixers have burned through every ounce of goodwill they’ve had since The Process began. The only thing that can fix that now is winning in the playoffs and the roster remaining healthy throughout the regular season to even have that opportunity to win.
At the very least, for the first time in months, if not a year, there’s a reason to at least peek over the fence and see what’s going on. If Joel Embiid really is healthy… like, actually healthy… then maybe, just maybe, the Sixers still have one more chapter worth reading.
