Jaylen Brown joins the LeBron James recruiting push, tells him to pull up to Philly

Everyone in the city of Philadelphia is recruiting LeBron James, including Jaylen Brown, who may end up being one of the main reasons LeBron ends up coming here.

Not only because he’s an MVP-caliber player, but because he’s openly telling LeBron he wants him to come to Philly. On a stream with iShowSpeed, Brown flat out tells LeBron to pull up.

This isn’t a beat reporter reading tea leaves off a burner account. This is a franchise cornerstone, on camera, on a stream watched by half the planet, telling the greatest player alive to come play with him. There’s no coded language. No “we’ll see what happens.” Just an invitation.

I don’t know, man, I just feel like this is actually going to happen.

The thing that gets me is Jaylen Brown didn’t have to do any of this. He just got here. He could’ve kept his head down, learned the building, let the front office handle the pitch. Instead he’s out here running point on the recruitment personally.

And LeBron is answering the calls. He’s already been publicly backing Jaylen Brown online while the rest of the league runs its little whisper campaign about him. That’s not nothing. That’s two guys who clearly like each other, feeling each other out in public, with the whole city standing behind them holding the door open.

It would be nuts. Think about it — the greatest sports city to ever exist gets to cheer for the greatest basketball player of all-time. It’s a match made in heaven.

This is LeBron James’ best shot at riding off on top

It all depends on what LeBron is actually looking for. If he wants to win and ride off into the sunset on top, this is his best shot. Jaylen Brown, Joel, Maxey, VJ, LeBron. That’s a championship roster.

Look at that group again. A two-way wing who just finished top-six in MVP voting. A top-ten scorer in Maxey. Embiid when healthy is still the most unguardable big in the sport. A young Edgecombe who’s only going up. Drop LeBron on top of that and you’re not talking about a play-in team hoping to catch fire. You’re talking about a real threat to come out of the East.

He’s chasing legacy at this point, not money. And there is no cleaner final chapter than winning one here, in the city that would bleed for it harder than anywhere he’s ever been.

I’m not even a huge LeBron guy. I just need this to happen, for the love of all things holy.
