Cinema: Aaron Gordon ties Terry Rozier for most 3s on the same day the NBA betting scandal breaks
You could not write a better script if you tried. On the very same day that Terry Rozier was named in a federal indictment for allegedly fixing a game to help a sports betting ring, Aaron Gordon just so happened to tie him for the most threes ever made in an NBA season opener.
When Ernie Johnson broke the news live on Inside the NBA that Aaron Gordon had tied Terry Rozier (of all people lol) the entire panel froze.
Charles Barkley, always the most self-aware guy on the set was shocked and Shaq literally had to bite his lip before Chuck bailed everyone out suggesting that they should go to a commercial break.
Shaq was seconds away from saying something…

Seriously, you can’t make this stuff up.
Here’s the exact moment Terry Rozier allegedly faked injury for $200K
Inside the NBA went to a commercial break. Not sure what commercial but it was probably one for DraftKings, or FanDuel, or BetMGM, or Fanatics, or ESPN Bet, or anything else that basketball fans can use to hammer Aaron Gordon overs for the next Nuggets game.
You can’t even parody this league anymore. Professional sports tied to sportsbooks is just going to get even more funny as this whole scandal unfolds. It’s already started with ESPN casually removing their sportsbook ads while discussing the report yesterday.
The next “boost your profits on the unders for all of tonight’s NBA action” advertisement is going to hit like crack.
The tag line practically writes itself:
“Be like your favorite NBA players and… you know. Bet on the game. They do. We can’t actually say that, but come on. Just use the app! DraftKings: Don’t get caught, but definitely play.”
The timing of all this is just unreal. A league currently being roasted for having multiple players and even a former coach caught in a massive betting scandal… seamlessly transitions from the most awkward live TV moment of the year to a gambling commercial.
