HE’S BACK: Joel Embiid breaks out the ‘suck it’ celly as the entire Sixers roster trolls Wizards fan after comeback win in D.C. last night
On the second night of a back-to-back, the Sixers clawed back from a 19-point deficit to stun the Washington Wizards 139-134 in overtime at Capital One Arena.
Tyrese Maxey dropped 39 points and 10 assists while Joel Embiid added 25 points, seven rebounds, and five assists in just 23 minutes.
Just like that, the Sixers stayed perfect at 4-0 to start the season.
Sixers storm back from 19-points down to beat the Wizards in OT 139-134
The game looked over midway through the third quarter when Khris Middleton’s three gave Washington a 95-76 lead.
Adem Bona completely shifted the energy on defense. He blocked four shots in the fourth quarter and another in overtime. His presence around the rim made the Wizards panic and rush possessions.
Grimes came alive late, knocking down clutch jumpers, grabbing rebounds, and playing strong defense. With less than a minute to go, he hit a three off a flare screen to tie the game at 126-126.
Bona then erased a CJ McCollum layup at the rim. The officials initially called goaltending, but after review, they overturned the call. The Wizards had one final chance at the buzzer, but Middleton’s mid-range shot missed, sending the game to overtime.
Maxey Closes It Out
The Wizards jumped ahead in overtime behind Kyshawn George, but Maxey took control when it mattered most. He attacked the basket for a driving layup, then set up Bona for a put-back dunk that gave the Sixers the lead.
From there, the Sixers clamped down on defense. Bona protected the rim, Grimes made winning plays, and Maxey sealed it at the line with clutch free throws. It was the Sixers’ third comeback win of the season after trailing by double digits in the fourth quarter.

Apparently there was a fan wearing a Jordan Poole jersey behind the Sixers bench, talking shit to the team throughout the entire game. I’m happy to report that this fan also stuck around to watch his lowly Wizards blow a 19-point lead and lose in overtime.
After the final buzzer, the entire Sixers roster turned around and made sure this Wizards fan knew what happened on the court in front of him. Obviously, the best part about this video below is Joel Embiid, who couldn’t be happier this year. Embiid is so happy, he’s even dishing out the always-classic ‘Suck It’ celly to anyone who has something to say.
