Rumor: Eagles want Myles Garrett BAD, willing to give up treasure trove of draft capital to get him
With the NFL trade deadline right around the corner, Eagles GM Howie Roseman is doing what he does best — cooking behind the scenes and stressing out every other front office in the league.
Per usual, the Birds have been tied to every notable name on the market. The biggest one floating around right now? Myles Garrett. And honestly, who wouldn’t want him? The guy just put up five sacks in a blowout loss while stuck playing for the Browns. Someone has to liberate that man.
Enter the madman himself, Howie Roseman. The rumor floating around is that the Eagles are willing to part with three first-round picks to land Garrett. Yes, that’s an insane price. Yes, it might actually get it done. And yes, it would be hilarious watching the rest of the NFL lose their collective minds.
NFL insider Charles Robinson was the first on the case:
“Rumor going around … and I have not heard it out of the Eagles, but I’ve heard it from a couple of other super high-ranking people in other teams that are clearly on the phones. That Howie Roseman and the Eagles are super hot after Myles Garrett. That Howie would give up, like, three first-round picks for him.”
For obvious reasons, I want this guy on the Eagles
Here’s the thing with rumors like this — of course Howie would love to bring Myles Garrett to Philadelphia. Who wouldn’t? But we’ve played this game before. As much as Garrett talked about chasing a championship last offseason, he also signed the richest defensive contract in NFL history to stay in Cleveland. And look, I’ll never blame anyone for taking $160 million. Secure the bag, always.
But now that he’s locked in, he has zero leverage. None. And why would the Browns move him anyway? They’re clinging to whatever looks like real football out there, and Garrett is literally the only good thing they have going. Three first-round picks be damned — that franchise just wants to sell a couple season tickets and pretend everything’s fine.
I’m putting the odds of this trade at maybe 1%. I’d love to be wrong, though. Imagine the meltdown.
