Psychopath: VJ Edgecombe’s Apartment Is Proof the Sixers’ Young Star Is Built for Greatness
I think it’s safe to say that anyone who lives in a home with plain white walls — no art, no plants, no decorations — has to be a psychopath, right? Well, that would be our guy, VJ Edgecombe.
And honestly? That’s exactly what I want out of this kid — the one who might just be the key to this franchise’s future success. Yes, I said it. After only four games, it’s not an overreaction to say that he and Tyrese Maxey have completely shifted the culture in Philadelphia.
Anyway, during the NBA’s new NBA on ESPN broadcast featuring Shaq, Charles Barkley, and company, the two young Sixers guards joined in for what turned into a surprisingly fun pregame segment last week.

Chuck is partially right here. Why isn’t Tyrese out here helping the young rook out? I mean, what’s his excuse? Other than the fact that the two were locking themselves in the gym together at 6 a.m. every day — which has clearly given them great early results.
Tyrese Maxey said he text the team this offseason & said he’d be at the gym at 6am if anyone wanted to pull up… VJ Edgecombe was 1 of 2 who did. Maxey said he’d told his Dad afterwards, “You’re gonna like this kid”. He says his work ethic was there day 1pic.twitter.com/nWoDHA47Oj

So, for that, I’ll give him a pass. So, who’s next to blame for the empty apartment? Can’t be Joel Embiid. He’s a father and was rehabbing this offseason.
I’ve decided to blame Paul George — only because he’s the easy target. He’s like the Tobias Harris of this new, fun Sixers squad.
All Jokes Aside
Decorating an apartment can be really stressful. I’m certainly no interior design master myself. But let’s be honest — all it takes is one trip to Target with a cute white girl to at least whip up something basic and clean.
For our rook, though, no distractions. That’s a waste of his and our time. In fact, I might pull a Jayden Daniels’ mom move here and tell all the girls to stay the hell away from my rookie.
Excuse me — “our” rookie.
You see, we’ve got a championship to win. We’ve got a long, painful story, filled with countless heartbreaks called The Process that needs to be completed. So, as far as VJ Edgecombe goes, I hope he becomes a basketball monk. Or whatever he wants to be.
I don’t give a damn. Whatever he’s doing now is clearly working. So, if everyone could just stay out of his ear and let him be great — because right now? He’s the favorite to win NBA Rookie of the Year.
Over Cooper Flagg! Can you believe it? Did someone say “The Steal of the 2025 NBA Draft?”

Here’s something even more wild: Tyrese Maxey and VJ Edgecombe have dropped a combined 186 points through just three games…
That’s the most by any starting backcourt through a team’s first three games of a season since stats started being tracked back in 1970.
First their was the Answer, then the Process, and now: The Generator
If the Sixers somehow manage to win an NBA championship over the next couple of years, VJ Edgecombe will be a huge reason why. And for that, he should go down as one of the greatest steals in NBA Draft history.

Like—are you kidding me?
The Sixers drafted a raw, 20-year-old kid who’s come in and already looks like he might be the missing piece to complete the Process. That’s nothing short of a miracle. And look, I get it if you think I’m getting ahead of myself — but you see the vision.
Falling Back in Love with the Sixers
I’m just having way too much fun with this Sixers squad — which is crazy, because I honestly thought I wouldn’t care about them at all this season. Especially after what this team and franchise put us through last year.
Now look at us. Who would’ve thought? Come here and give me a kiss. You’ve been gone for too long. It’s so great to have you back!
