Howie SZN: Eagles trade for former Pro Bowl cornerback Jaire Alexander
Howie Roseman never sleeps. Just days after trading for nickel corner Michael Carter II, the Eagles pulled off another deal, landing former Pro Bowl cornerback Jaire Alexander from the Baltimore Ravens.
Philadelphia will receive Jaire Alexander and a 2027 seventh-round pick in exchange for a 2026 sixth-rounder. It’s a low-cost, high-upside move for a team that’s been searching for answers at corner all season.

Jaire Alexander: The Details
Jaire Alexander was once one of the best cornerbacks in football. A first-round pick out of Louisville in 2018, he earned All-Pro honors in 2020 and 2022 with the Packers.
The past two years haven’t gone according to plan. Injuries derailed his time in Green Bay, and after being released in June, he signed a one-year, $4 million deal with Baltimore.
The reunion with his college teammate Lamar Jackson never materialized into much. Alexander appeared in just two games for the Ravens and was a healthy scratch five times. Baltimore’s secondary depth pushed him out of the rotation, and the Eagles saw an opportunity to buy low.
The Fit in Philly
The Eagles’ secondary has been one of the few question marks on an otherwise solid defensive unit. Quinyon Mitchell has locked down one side, while Cooper DeJean has spent most of his time in the slot. The other outside corner spot, however, has been a revolving door with Kelee Ringo and Adoree’ Jackson rotating in and out.
Alexander gives the team another option and potentially a legitimate starter. If he can regain his form. He already has a connection inside the building. Eagles defensive backs coach Christian Parker coached Alexander in Green Bay in 2019 and 2020, the same stretch that produced his first Pro Bowl season.
Familiar scheme. Familiar face. Familiar expectations. All good.
Classic Howie Roseman Move
This is the type of trade that’s become Howie Roseman’s calling card. The Eagles are getting a proven talent for the price of a late-round pick swap. There’s no long-term financial risk, and the upside is enormous if Alexander can stay healthy.
For a defense run by Vic Fangio, who values versatility and intelligence in his secondary, Alexander could be the missing piece. He brings speed, physicality, and experience which are three things this cornerback group has lacked on the outside.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Roseman wasn’t done. The deadline is still days away, and history tells us that when Howie gets rolling, more moves usually follow.
Philadelphia’s defense is already loaded with talent at every level. The front seven is elite, led by Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis, and Zack Baun. The secondary now boasts Mitchell, DeJean, Carter II, and Alexander giving the Birds a mix of youth, flexibility, and proven production.
Jaire Alexander might not be the same player who once terrorized opposing quarterbacks in Green Bay, but he doesn’t have to be. If he can provide solid coverage opposite Mitchell and give Fangio one more reliable body in the rotation, the Eagles’ defense could take another leap.
This move checks every box for the Eagles. It’s cheap, smart, and perfectly timed. Roseman saw a chance to upgrade a weakness without sacrificing draft capital or cap space.
If Alexander can rediscover even a fraction of his All-Pro form, this could go down as one of the steals of the season. For now, one thing is certain. The Eagles just got better.
