Jaire Alexander is reportedly stepping away from football to consider retirement

Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Jaire Alexander is reportedly stepping away from football to consider retirement, according to reports from Fox Sports and The Athletic.

Jaire Alexander is stepping away from football to consider retirement…?

Someone tell Howie Roseman to get our pick back…

The 28-year-old veteran has only appeared in two games this season, both with the Baltimore Ravens, before being traded to Philadelphia earlier this month.

The Eagles acquired Jaire Alexander in a late-round draft pick swap, sending a 2026 sixth-rounder to Baltimore in exchange for Alexander and a 2027 seventh-rounder.

Alexander did not travel with the team for Monday night’s win over the Green Bay Packers, listed as “out” due to a combination of knee issues and a “coach’s decision.” According to league insiders, he is now taking time to evaluate his health, mindset, and long-term future in the NFL.

A two-time Pro Bowler and second-team All-Pro selection in 2020 and 2022, Jaire Alexander was one of the league’s elite corners during his prime years with Green Bay, where he spent his first seven seasons. He recorded 12 interceptions and 292 tackles in 84 career games, including a standout 2022 campaign where he posted five picks and 56 tackles.

Injuries, however, have derailed the last two years of his career. He played just seven games in both 2023 and 2024 before signing a one-year deal with the Ravens following his release from the Packers.

The Eagles brought Alexander in to strengthen a secondary that had been struggling with injuries and inconsistency, pairing him with recent trade addition Michael Carter II from the New York Jets. But now, just weeks later, his future with the team and apparently the NFL as a whole is now very uncertain.

Philadelphia improved to 7-2 with Monday’s gritty 10-7 win over the Packers at Lambeau Field. The team returns home Sunday night for a showdown with the Detroit Lions, but it appears they’ll be doing so without one of their newest acquisitions.
