Clown Show: Cam Newton claims the refs robbed the Lions in favor of the Eagles

In shocking news to literally nobody, Cam Newton decided to go on a rant this morning over that pass interference called against the Lions. Instead of highlighting the Eagles elite defensive performance, this clown spent Monday morning on First Take ranting over a single penalty.

Rock Ya-Sin got hit with a controversial PI on A.J. Brown on 3rd-and-8 with 1:47 left. The Eagles got a first down. The internet cried. And Cam Newton, self-appointed Minister of Football Truth, hopped on First Take to let everyone know that a single flag ruined the game.

Controversial penalty in Eagles vs. Lions game

Was it a good call? Maybe not. Did it decide the game? Absolutely not.

Detroit was flat from kickoff. The Eagles defense treated Jared Goff and the “best offense in football” like a Pop Warner walkthrough. It was cold. It was miserable. And the Lions looked like they wanted the nearest airport, not four quarters of trench warfare in South Philly.

Everybody watching could see it. Except apparently the man in the giant hat.

The Eagles Defense Embarrassed Detroit

If the Birds’ offense had been even half competent, this would have been a blowout. The defense was that dominant. Biblical, even. Dan Campbell came to fight. The Eagles came to end bloodlines. One of these happened. One did not.

Cam spent all week calling the our Birds a ticking time bomb… and then Philly went out and smothered the best offense in football. And now this is the clip this clown and his company decide to run with? Give me a break.

ESPN has turned into a carnival of bad angles and louder-than-necessary opinions, so it’s not a shock that they chose the most boring narrative available.

Between the YouTube TV dispute and whatever this era of First Take is supposed to be, the network is determined to make national sports talk as unwatchable as possible.

So, not surprised, just incredibly annoyed.

  1. Before the game, Newton said Detroit was going to expose Philly.

Even if they don’t call that PI, Detroit exposed nothing that we didn’t already know other than “Detroit can’t move the ball on a good defense”…
