Jaelan Phillips doubles down on his love for Philly, could very well be the best thing that happens to the Eagles this season

When Jaelan Phillips got traded out of Miami, he did not bother with the usual scripted goodbye. There wasn’t the “mixed emotions” or “forever grateful” lines that everyone expected. Instead, he went straight to the point and said that getting traded to the Philadelphia Eagles was the best thing that has ever happened to him in his entire life.

Not top five. Not top three. The best thing.

Most fans assumed he was just riding the high of a fresh start. New city. New team. New chance to win. Everyone says they love it here at first, because why wouldn’t they?

Then the guy put on a helmet and immediately had an impact in the trenches for the Eagles defense. Turns out, he meant every word. Jaelan Phillips is playing like the best thing to ever happen to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Game Ball: Jaelan Phillips was absolutely ridiculous in Eagles debut

The Eagles defense has now held two legitimate NFC contenders under 10 points in back to back weeks. That is sixteen total points allowed. If you were calling this a simple “upgrade,” you can stop. This is not an upgrade. This is a full defensive transformation.

Phillips is blowing up everything in front of him. When blocking schemes fall apart, quarterbacks panic and mistakes happen before the ball even leaves the center’s hand.

The Eagles defense looked uncertain earlier this season. Now it looks like the most dangerous defense in the NFL, and the timing is obvious. The shift started when Jaelan Phillips showed up.

Eagles Defense continues to bail out the offense

The offense still has not played their best football. It has been fine and obviously, enough to win games but the difference is that now this defense is strong enough to carry the entire team while the offense figures itself out.

The Eagles are the number one seed in the NFC right now.

Side Note: There are still a few real tests left, starting with Dallas next week. The Liberty Line will be in attendance with Phans of Philly.

Jaelan Phillips is the best thing that happened to Philly

Phillips said it was the greatest thing that ever happened to him but at this point, it is fair to ask a different question. Sure, the best thing that happened to Jaelan Phillips was getting traded to Philadelphia but maybe the best thing that happened to Philadelphia was getting Jaelan Phillips.

If this continues, nobody will be wondering why he said it. They will be wondering how the Eagles pulled it off in the first place.
