WATCH: Andre Drummond squares up with Wendell Carter Jr as the Sixers get blown out by the Magic
On a night where the Sixers showed absolutely zero resistance in a 41-point humiliation, Andre Drummond at least gave fans one moment of entertainment by squaring up and fight Wendell Carter Jr.
Midway through the second quarter of the Sixers’ blowout loss to the Magic, Wendell Carter Jr. got tangled up with Drummond while trying to set a screen for Desmond Bane.
Instead of simply resetting the play, Andre Drummond squared up like he was about to headline a boxing card at the Wells Fargo Center.
Fists up. Shoulders squared. Full-on “let’s do this” stance.
Carter barely reacted. He gave Drummond a look that basically translated to, “What are you doing, man,” which somehow made the moment even funnier.
Jalen Suggs came flying in from off-screen like he got hit with a steel chair in WWE, shoving Drummond and instantly escalating everything. Both teams swarmed in as coaches and security jumped onto the floor.

That was the most intensity anyone in a Sixers jersey displayed all night.
After the review, the refs handed out the damage:
- Drummond and Carter: double techs
- Desmond Bane and Jabari Walker: techs for crashing the party
- Jalen Suggs: two techs and an early walk to the locker room
Squaring up was probably just pure frustration on Andre Drummond’s part. The Sixers were getting run out of their own building, down 82–58, with their defense looking like a wet paper towel.
Sixers get cooked by 41, injury list grows, vibes continue to tank
Drummond showed more fight in that moment than the entire Sixers roster showed in 48 minutes. He just snapped for a second and honestly, I respect it because it was literally the only thing that kept me watching the Sixers crash and burn.
This is also nothing new for him. The guy is always down for a bit of chaos. He had beef last season with Victor Wembanyama. He’s had dust-ups throughout his career. But at least it means he isn’t sleepwalking through these games like the rest of the roster was on Tuesday night.
Anyways, the Sixers got embarrassed last night. They got dunked on, shot over, and pretty much booed out of the Xfinity Mobile Arena last night but for one brief moment, Andre Drummond actually woke the building up. Damn shame the rest of the team never did, ya know?
