Eagles and Mekhi Becton are on a collision course for a reunion this offseason

By all accounts, it looks like the Chargers and Mekhi Becton are barreling toward a full-blown divorce this offseason.

ESPN dropped an interview with Becton over the weekend digging into his time in LA, and suffice to say, the man did not hold back. He laid out his frustrations pretty plainly — and it sure sounded like someone who has zero interest in sticking around.

Mekhi Becton back to the Eagles this offseason?

Mekhi Becton has battled injuries all season — which, at this point, is basically the story of his career, last year being the lone exception. He’s been in and out of the lineup, logging just 69% of the Chargers’ offensive snaps. Most of that is injury-related, sure, but then there’s Week 11, when he was mysteriously yanked from the game with zero explanation. According to Becton, he still has no idea why he wasn’t on the field.

When you put all that together — the injuries, the inconsistency, the public frustration — it really feels like he’s angling for an exit. And maybe, just maybe, a return to Philadelphia.

You can’t pin all of the Eagles’ offensive issues on losing Becton this offseason, but let’s not pretend it hasn’t mattered. The rushing attack isn’t the same, especially on inside zone runs. Tyler Steen has been fine, but he hasn’t matched the standard Becton set last year. Not even close.

Right now, I’d put the odds of a reunion at around 50%. It goes without saying that Howie Roseman is going to address the offensive line this offseason — I just don’t know if that means drafting someone new or bringing back a familiar face.
