Report: Jalen Hurts wants fewer designed QB runs which is unfortunate, considering the Eagles have no offense without them

Over the weekend, PhillyVoice’s Jimmy Kempski reported that Jalen Hurts isn’t a huge fan of the designed QB runs anymore. According to his sources, it’s because Hurts doesn’t want to get injured on such plays, which is fair.

The only issue with this is that Jalen Hurts isn’t really a pocket passer and the Eagles entire offense relies on his legs.

Kempski wasn’t the only one to report this either. Philadelphia Inquirer’s Jeff McLane reported the same thing over the offseason.

To be fair, I don’t think any QB is really keen on calling their own number on running plays. Most quarterbacks also aren’t built like Hurts. When he’s at his best, he’s running around, making throws on time, and opening everything else up for the offense.

Right now, the Eagles need life on offense. Hurts has all the power in his hands. Either suck it up and start making plays with your feet, or watch this offense continue to suffer. If the passing game was clicking, it would be a different story. But it’s obviously not.

Hurts should be willing to do whatever it takes to get this back on track. If running more is how they do it, then so be it.
