Spike Eskin lied about Jalen Hurts and now looks like a complete fool after Hard Knocks Episode 1
Say whatever you want about the Eagles right now. The losing streak has been painful. Nick Sirianni looks lost. The offense is stuck in quicksand. But one thing you can no longer say, under any circumstances, is that Jalen Hurts is some emotionless robot who refuses to talk to his receivers.
Unless, of course, you are Spike Eskin, who spent the past month on WIP pushing that exact nonsense.
I do not listen to WIP and I refuse to start now, but my timeline is filled every day with Eagles fans posting Spike’s latest disastrous football takes.
According to him, Hurts never communicates after a miscommunication. Never corrects a route. Never takes ownership. Never speaks to a single human being on the sideline.
Which raises a simple question. How would he even know? His dad may have actually been on the sideline during games, but Spike is just yelling theories from the studio like he is auditioning for a Reddit moderator job.

So you’re saying Spike Eskin lied 24 hours ago? What a shocker!

…. and then Hard Knocks aired.
The episode opens with two straight weeks of misery. The Dallas collapse. The Bears meltdown. Sirianni questioning himself. Brandon Graham trying to hold the locker room together. It was rough.
Buried inside all that pain was the exact clip Spike Eskin insisted did not exist. After Hurts missed that crucial throw to DeVonta Smith on Black Friday, here is what the cameras captured:
Jalen Hurts and DeVonta Smith:
“When I pointed like this, that is my fault. I thought you were going to settle down. That is a play I have to make. Keep doing what you are doing. We will finish the next one. That is a play I make.”
That is leadership. That is accountability. That is exactly what every real Eagles fan already knew about Jalen Hurts.
Let’s talk about Spike for a second.
Spike tosses out these goofy talking points because he needs something to argue about for four hours a day. He changes his opinions every time the wind shifts on Broad Street. He talks about football like someone who is learning the sport from TikTok highlight reels.
He is not a football expert. He is not plugged in. He pushes storylines that get people angry enough to call into his show. That is the gig.
At some point, even talk-radio grifters should show a little self-awareness. This is the same guy who built his entire identity around The Process, only to jump ship the second things got uncomfortable and pretend he never believed in anything.
He even said he is “done” with Joel Embiid now, which is hilarious considering Embiid carried his entire brand for a decade.
Spike is DONE with Joel Embiid

"Over. Done. Kaput. Thank you for being the greatest Sixer that I've watched. The best player, at least. Thank you for the era bring us back to relevance. Thank you for playing while you're injured, all those sorts of things. But I am completely… pic.twitter.com/Te7uHoPevC
At the very least, he owes Jalen Hurts an apology today. His narrative was a lie, and Hard Knocks exposed him in front of the entire country.
Jalen Hurts is not the problem. Spike Eskin and the rest of 94.1 WIP’s football analysis is.
