AJ Brown Eagles June 1st Trade

Eagles NFC East odds just exploded thanks to the Cowboys implosion on Thursday Night Football

The Philadelphia Eagles needed help and the Detroit Lions delivered it like it was Prime shipping. With Dallas losing on Thursday night, the Eagles suddenly have a 95 percent chance to win the NFC East.

This was the biggest gift the Birds have received in weeks and it came gift-wrapped from the Detroit Lions.

Meanwhile, the Cowboys are staring down a reality nobody thought was possible a month ago. They now have less than a 10 percent chance to even make the playoffs.

Outside of anyone with half of a brain, who could have seen that coming? The same Cowboys who were feeling themselves during a three game win streak and talking about “running the table” are now 6–6–1 and clinging to mathematical life.

Incredible scenes. Let me tell ya…

The Eagles’ magic number to clinch the division is now three. That means if the Birds simply go 3–2 over their final five games, they win the NFC East regardless of what Dallas does. The Cowboys could win out and it still would not matter.

Dallas winning out is unlikely anyway. Their remaining schedule looks soft on paper but we have all watched enough Cowboys football to know how this story ends.

Low Energy George Pickens couldn’t be bothered to give effort in pivotal Cowboys game

Cowboys Remaining Schedule

  • Week 15 vs Vikings
  • Week 16 vs Chargers
  • Week 17 at Commanders
  • Week 18 vs Giants

Realistically, one more Cowboys loss in this stretch feels guaranteed. If that happens, the Eagles would only need two wins the rest of the way to seal a home playoff game.

Eagles Remaining Schedule

  • Week 14 at Chargers
  • Week 15 vs Raiders
  • Week 16 at Commanders
  • Week 17 at Bills
  • Week 18 vs Commanders

The Birds are still in the mix for the number one seed, but any conversation about that can wait until Philadelphia remembers how to score points again. Beat the Chargers on Monday night and then we can start talking about a first round bye.

With a win in LA, the magic number to clinch the division drops to two.

For now, let us just appreciate how funny this scenario could get. There is a real chance the Cowboys win out and still miss the postseason. That would land them the 18th pick in the draft, the worst possible outcome for a non playoff team.

Chef’s kiss.

The Eagles’ season has been chaotic and maddening, but the Cowboys losing on Thursday Night Football changed a lot of things as we enter the final weeks of the NFL season.

Suddenly, the Eagles control their destiny again and the NFC East is sitting in the palm of their hand. Beat the Chargers. Handle your business. The path is right there.
