Eagles Raiders Injury Updates Friday

Injury Update: Eagles get reinforcements in the ahead of Raiders game

The Eagles finally caught a bit of good injury news on Friday, and it could not come at a better time. Both Landon Dickerson (calf) and Fred Johnson (ankle) were full participants in Friday’s practice and are good to go for Sunday’s matchup against the Raiders.

That matters, a lot.

Eagles Friday Injury Report

Dickerson missed Thursday’s practice with a rest designation after being limited earlier in the week, but this is nothing new for him. He suffered the calf injury against the Chargers, returned to finish that game, and has been juggling multiple injuries all season.

The Eagles have been cautious with him before, including giving him rest days last week. Having Dickerson fully available stabilizes the interior of an offensive line that desperately needs it.

Fred Johnson’s status is just as important. He popped up on Thursday’s injury report, which usually signals something happened in practice, but there were no visible braces or wraps on Friday.

Johnson will start again at right tackle with Lane Johnson officially ruled out. If Fred Johnson were unable to go, the Eagles would have been staring at Matt Pryor as their top option. Not ideal.

Lane Johnson missed the entire week of practice with his foot injury and will now miss his fourth straight game. He suffered a Lisfranc sprain against the Lions on November 16, and while the Eagles clearly hoped he might return this week, it was not meant to be.

Fred Johnson has started the last three games and now gets another tough assignment against Maxx Crosby, who lines up on the right side of the defense roughly 87 percent of the time.

On the defensive side of the ball, Jalen Carter (shoulders) was the only other Eagle ruled out after missing the entire week of practice. Even without Carter last week, the defensive line showed up in a big way, sacking Justin Herbert six times. That trend could continue against a Raiders offensive line that has allowed the most sacks in the NFL.

Zack Baun (hand) was a full participant all week and is good to go.

Long snapper Charley Hughlett practiced fully all week and is expected to be activated off injured reserve by Saturday’s deadline. Hughlett has been out since Week 4 after core muscle surgery and will reclaim his long snapper role.

Given Jake Elliott’s struggles this season, that is not a small detail.

The Eagles are still banged up, but getting Dickerson, Fred Johnson, Baun, and Hughlett back on the field gives them a fighting chance to finally stop the bleeding against a Raiders team they absolutely should beat.
