Friendly Fire: Merrill Reese and Mike Quick take shots at 94.1 WIP over Jalen Hurts slander

Jalen Hurts picked up a 3rd-and-12 with his legs on Sunday and Merrill Reese summed it up perfectly on the radio broadcast.

Merrill Reese and Mike Quick on Jalen Hurts

That pretty much says it all.

After the disaster against the Chargers, Hurts came out and did exactly what the Eagles needed him to do. Nothing flashy for the sake of being flashy. No hero ball. No chaos. Just calm, efficient, winning football.

Jalen Hurts finished 12-of-15 for 175 yards and three touchdowns with zero turnovers. His 154.9 passer rating was the second-highest of his career.

He converted key third downs with both his arm and his legs, stayed in rhythm, protected the football, and let the game come to him. The Eagles won 31-0 and snapped their three-game losing streak in dominant fashion.

Raiders to the Rescue: Eagles ‘get right’ with a 31-0 shutout at The Linc

That is how a franchise quarterback responds.

This was not about style points. It was about control. Hurts understood the assignment. The offense leaned on the run game, took shots when they were there, and never gave the Raiders an opening. After last week’s mess, this was the ideal bounce-back.

Now comes the predictable part.

What does 94.1 WIP do with this? Do they spend Monday dismissing the shutout because it was “only the Raiders”? Do they move the goalposts again after spending a full week screaming about benchings, replacements, and fictional quarterback controversies?

Probably, but none of that actually matters.

Jalen Hurts is not the problem people want him to be. He never was. Philly sports radio manufacturing chaos around him only makes an already frustrating situation louder and dumber. The Eagles are 9-5, still in control of the division, and their quarterback just delivered the exact response you hope for after a rough week.

If there were any doubts about Hurts’ leadership, resilience, or grip on this team, Sunday should have put them to rest. Anyone still yelling into a microphone about benching him is telling on themselves.

Not from anyone with good sense.
