Embarrassing: Commanders local news is immortalizing a fake punt from the NFCCG that no one in Philadelphia even remembers

The downfall of the Washington Commanders this season was so predictable it hurts. And even though Washington fans swore up and down that their retirement-home roster wouldn’t fall off a cliff, they’ve somehow taken things a step further by trying to immortalize a play from the NFC Championship Game that no one in Philadelphia even remembers.

On Thursday, a local Washington news station actually went on air to talk about the fake punt they ran during the NFC Championship. Given how disastrously their season has gone, I guess it makes sense to cling to whatever scraps of positivity you can still find.

Even as an Eagles fan, this is tough to watch, man. I mean, why even bring that game up at all? The final score was 55–23. Why would you ever want to revisit that game again? Beats me.

The Commanders team the Eagles will face on Saturday is a shell of what it was last year. I almost feel bad for how far they’ve fallen in just one season — but then I remember that Ted guy who claimed he took over Philly after bringing 15 dudes to the Hard Rock Cafe, and I don’t feel so bad anymore.
