Tank Bigsby Eagles Playoffs

Tank Bigsby continues to earn touches and the Eagles would be wise to utilize him more in the playoffs

Tank Bigsby keeps making the same argument every time the Eagles actually let him touch the football. Operating behind Saquon Barkley on the depth chart, Bigsby has been productive whenever his number is called, even if the opportunities have been wildly inconsistent.

Tank Bigsby ran for 57 yards in the 31-0 shutout of the Raiders, followed that with 37 more in the road win over Washington, then somehow disappeared against Buffalo with just two carries for seven yards.

The usage makes no sense, especially when the results keep telling the same story.

Every time Bigsby gets a chance, he gives the Eagles something. He runs with purpose, shows real shiftiness, and has no problem lowering his shoulder and finishing runs despite being listed at 5-foot-11 and 215 pounds.

He is not a finesse back. He is a downhill runner who turns routine plays into positive gains and occasionally into chunk plays.

Sunday was another reminder of what Tank Bigsby can bring to the offense

He finished with 75 rushing yards and a touchdown, then added 31 more yards through the air on a simple checkdown that turned into a big gain. He slipped an early tackle, got north in a hurry, and made Washington pay every time he touched the ball.

After the Eagles recovered Josh Johnson’s fumble in the third quarter, Bigsby capped the sequence with a two-yard touchdown, doing exactly what you want a backup running back to do when given a short field.

Tank Bigsby Touchdown

Eagles’ backups fail to deliver, but the bigger picture still favors Philly

Looking ahead to the playoffs, Bigsby feels like an obvious asset. He gives the Eagles a real one-two punch with Barkley and allows them to manage Barkley’s workload without sacrificing physicality or production. That matters over a long postseason run. Bigsby does not need 20 carries a game, but he does need to be part of the plan.

The takeaway is simple. Tank Bigsby can play. He has shown it over and over again. If Nick Sirianni and Brian Patullo want to get the most out of this offense in January, they need to stop overthinking it and get him on the field.
