Eagles’ GM Howie Roseman all but confirms he’s not trading AJ Brown
Eagles GM Howie Roseman is never going to tell the media exactly what he’s thinking, but it’s usually not that hard to read between the lines when he talks. And at this point, we’ve got a long enough track record to know how he operates.
Bottom line: Howie has never been interested in trading away star players — especially when they’re still in their prime.
That’s why the idea of the Birds moving A.J. Brown never really made sense. But of course, he still got asked about it during his end-of-year press conference with Nick Sirianni.
Eagles GM all but confirms AJ Brown isn’t going anywhere
“It’s hard to find great players in the NFL and A.J.’s a great player. That’s what we’re going out and looking for, when we go out in free agency and the Draft, is trying to find great players who love football and he’s that guy. So that would be my answer.”
He doesn’t come right out and say “we’re not trading A.J.” — because Howie would never do that — but this is about as close as you’re gonna get.
And honestly, even if you ignore the fact that he’s an elite player, the money still makes zero sense. The Eagles would owe a disgusting amount no matter how they try to move on from him. Cut him, trade him, pre-June 1, post-June 1 — every scenario ends with the Birds paying out the ass just so A.J. can go play for someone else.
Hard pass.
Run it back with a new offensive coordinator and let’s get back to the Super Bowl.
