Report: Eagles ready to hand the keys to their next OC — complete control, no Sirianni interference

Per Josina Anderson — who’s been all over the Eagles’ offensive coordinator search — the team is willing to give “complete autonomy” over the offensive scheme to whoever they end up hiring.

She also adds that every candidate vetted so far has been assured there will be zero interference from Nick Sirianni — or anyone else in the building. Whoever gets hired will be running their offense. Full stop.

The most interesting tidbit here (and honestly the funniest) is that Anderson compares it to what the Eagles supposedly did for Kellen Moore. And yeah… claiming Moore had “complete control” over the offense just isn’t true.

He did at first. The passing game had more variety, more creativity, more actual life. But that got pushed aside pretty quickly once they realized they had a cheat code in the backfield and the best defense in the NFL.

Moore’s fingerprints were visible at times — especially once the postseason started — but calling the 2024 Eagles offense the Kellen Moore offense would be disingenuous.

That said, I don’t think any legitimate OC candidate would even consider coming here if he wasn’t allowed to run his own system. I also think we’re past the point of pretending Sirianni is some offensive head coach. Sure, his background is on that side of the ball, but it’s clearly not his strong suit.

It’s the same deal with a guy like Dan Campbell. He’s technically an “offensive” coach too, but Detroit’s in the same boat we are: the head coach isn’t some offensive mastermind, so the coordinator is the one who actually drives the identity.

And if these reports are true, this would be the first time the Eagles have to install a brand new offense under Jalen Hurts and Nick Sirianni. At this point, I think it’s worth it more than ever — and I’m glad it seems like the organization feels the same way.
