Nick Foles gives Broncos fans hope ahead of AFC Championship Game vs Patriots
Philadelphia Eagles legend Nick Foles saw the Bo Nix news, and hopped on Twitter to give Denver Broncos fans hope heading into next week’s AFC Championship Game against the New England Patriots.
After Nix fractured his ankle late in Denver’s divisional-round win over the Bills and officially ended his season, Broncos fans were left staring at an AFC Championship Game with Jarrett Stidham under center against the Patriots.
Not exactly calming, until the greatest backup quarterback of all time, Nick Foles decided to give Broncos fans the perfect reminder heading into next week’s game.
Nick Foles dropped a message on social media that was equal parts supportive and ruthless. First, the class. Foles said he felt for Bo Nix and the team and sent prayers for a strong recovery. All good. Then he got to the part everyone actually cared about.
“A positive note going into the game versus the Patriots is that they struggle against backup QBs in championship-type games.”
He followed that up with a positive note, saying that Patriots have historically struggled against backup quarterbacks in championship-type games.
Nick Foles gives Broncos fans hope
If you’re a Patriots fan, that sentence probably caused instant PTSD. If you’re a Broncos fan, it was the exact reminder you needed to hear from the one man on Earth qualified to say it.
Everyone remembers it. Carson Wentz goes down in 2017 while playing at an MVP level. Foles stepped in. The Eagles didn’t panic or crumble. Instead they won two playoff games before beating Tom Brady and the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl.
Obviously, that’s a lived experience from Nick Foles and why that tweet is so incredible.
Now Denver is staring at the same reality. Bo Nix is done and backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham is in. The Patriots are on deck and suddenly, thanks to Nick Foles, there is at least a sense of hope creeping back into the conversation.
