Elite confidence.
The best part is he didn’t even wait for confirmation. No tracking it. No praying. No awkward half-crouch. Just tap, turn, walk off like he’s done it 1,000 times and the universe is required to cooperate. The only thing missing was the “night-night” to really put the dagger in the soul of everyone watching.
For one brief moment, that Penn State fan had world in the palm of his hands. By world, I mean a few thousand people at a Penn State basketball game, which is basically the same thing if you’ve ever been trapped inside one of those buildings in January.
Penn State basketball is rough but at the very least, they’ve got this going for them. The full-court putt is apparently becoming a tradition, because this was the second time someone made it this year, and the prize is a free one-year apartment lease.
That’s massive for a college student, obviously. It’s the equivalent of being a homeowner which of course, is the American dream we were all once promised. This Penn State fan can reallocate that money to beer and whatever else he wants to get crazy on in State College.
Meanwhile, the rest of us are sitting here covered in snow and ice, watching people in Hawaii play golf in shorts like it’s a different planet. So yeah, congrats to this guy. For one glorious moment, he became the best full-court putter in the world while giving Penn State a much-needed win, even if it didn’t show up in the standings.
