Dr. Jonathan Glashow, the surgeon who performed arthroscopic surgery on Joel Embiid’s left knee in April 2025 at NYU Langone, has been the center of attention for Sixers fans after Joel Embiid has finally started to look like himself again.

Sixers fans flooded Glashow with five star reviews, pushing him up to a shiny 4.9 rating and calling him the savior of Embiid’s career.

Glashow posted a video thanking Philly for the love, but he made it clear this was not some solo victory lap. He credited Joel Embiid, the rehab staff, and the full team effort behind the scenes, and said the work is continuing through the season.

Joel Embiid has been on a heater.

Here is what Embiid has done in his last 18 games:

  • 29.4 PPG (nine games of 30+ points)
  • 8.3 RPG
  • 4.3 APG
  • 52.3% FG
  • 85.5% FT
  • 63.0 TS%
  • +102 (+5.7 per game)

If you want to zoom in tighter, Joel Embiid’s last six games are even better.

  • 37 PTS, 5 REB, 8 AST
  • 29 PTS, 9 REB, 5 AST
  • 38 PTS, 11 REB, 5 AST
  • 32 PTS, 15 REB, 10 AST
  • 30 PTS, 9 REB, 4 AST
  • 33 PTS, 5 REB, 3 AST

Dr. Jonathan Glashow has treated plenty of high level athletes, including Kawhi Leonard and Paul George. This is a veteran with a real track record of success.

If this knee holds up, the entire season changes.

Obviously, the surgery has worked for Joel Embiid but it truly is amazing that he started the season not even being able to jump, while everyone (besides me) were convinced that the former NBA MVP was basically set on early retirement.

Fast forward and well, you see the numbers Embiid’s been posting above. When he’s upright and moving like this, the Philadelphia 76ers stop feeling like a team trying to survive and start feeling like a contender to win the Eastern Conference.

You do not want to draw a healthy Philadelphia 76ers team in a playoff series. Four quarters of this version of Joel Embiid, hunting mismatches, getting to 15 feet, and turning every trip to the rim into a whistle is a nightmare for any team in the NBA.

Keep the five stars coming if it means Joel Embiid keeps playing like this.
