Jalen Hurts

Jalen Hurts left out of Eagles OC search and honestly it makes total sense

Howie Roseman and Jeffrey Lurie didn’t need Jalen Hurts’ blessing to identify what’s been broken offensively for years now. They’ve watched the same vanilla, predictable scheme that somehow won them a Super Bowl.

Around the league, quarterbacks are getting more power than ever. Some teams are letting their franchise guys sit in on interviews, influence hires, even shape entire offensive identities. The Bills letting Josh Allen help interview head coaching candidates is still one of the strangest things I’ve seen in this era of “player empowerment.”

That’s not how the Eagles operate. And that’s why they’re one of the most stable, successful organizations in the NFL.

Jalen Hurts will always be judged through the lens of his postseason excellence, and rightfully so. He has a ring. He has a Super Bowl MVP. But consistency in the passing game has been the missing piece, and that’s what this hire is about.

Sean Mannion isn’t coming in to flatter egos or rubber-stamp what’s already comfortable. His background points to development, structure, and accountability. He’s helped elevate quarterbacks in Green Bay — Jordan Love especially — by tightening mechanics, improving pocket discipline, and building rhythm within the offense.

And yes, it matters that Mannion actually played the position. Recently. Quarterbacks respect that. But respect doesn’t come from coddling — it comes from coaching.

The Eagles are about to have a real, modern scheme for Jalen Hurts to run

Everything about Mannion’s coaching DNA points toward a more modern, motion-heavy, sequence-based offense. Less standing around. Less static formations. Less “just win your matchup” football. This should be music to the ears of fans, but most importantly guys like DeVonta Smith, AJ Brown, and Saquon Barkley.

But the most important aspect of all of this? Jalen Hurts is at his best when he’s being pushed. When he’s being challenged. When the coaching staff isn’t afraid to coach him hard.

While he is the franchise quarterback and a Super Bowl MVP, it was important for Howie Roseman and Jeffrey Lurie to re-astablish authority within the organization. Newsflash for AJ Brown and Jalen Hurts: While I love you both so dearly, you are not above the organization.

As great as you both are, we have a young, and very bright football mind in the building now, who is very respected and is oozing of potential. It’s safe to say this won’t be the Kevin Patullo show again.
