WATCH: Milton Williams says he never got a contract offer from Eagles during free agency last offseason
Milton Williams proved to be one of the key cogs in the Eagles Super Bowl victory last season. He helped dominate the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes, continually ragdolling him on almost every passing play.
After such an excellent performance, Williams hit free agency as one of the hottest names on the market. He was understandably way out of the Eagles price range, as he eventually signed with New England for four years, $104 million.
Milton Williams is now back in the big game as a member of the Pats. During his media availability this week, he was asked if the Birds ever tried to counter the Patriots offer.
Milton Williams says he never heard anything from the Eagles
I mean, this shouldn’t really surprise anyone.
Williams is a starter in this league and simply wasn’t getting that same amount of playing time here in Philly with Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis ahead of him on the depth chart. The team also had Moro Ojomo waiting in the wings and he’s proven himself to be a steady force along the interior of the defensive line.
I’m happy for Milt. Dude’s a great ball player and has the opportunity to win back-to-back chips on Sunday. Hopefully he can get it done.
