WATCH: Micah Parsons was about to be an Eagle until he found out Jalen Carter may be part of the deal

We always knew Micah Parsons wanted to be an Eagle. During his sit down interview with AJ Brown and Bryce Young, he all but confirmed it.

Micah Parsons on how close he was to being traded to Philly

“It was very close. Before Jaelan Phillips, it was me. I was really about to come… It really almost happened. There was one person that I had to play with that if he was gone I did not want to be there — and that was Jalen Carter”

By the looks of it, the Cowboys were only willing to deal Micah Parsons to the Eagles under one condition: Jalen Carter had to be part of the trade. And honestly, that makes a ton of sense.

First, Dallas needed help on the interior defensive line. They already addressed that with their deal with Green Bay, and they even landed Quinnen Williams at the deadline. Second, Jalen Carter is the best defensive lineman the Eagles have, full stop. If you’re trading Parsons for Carter straight up, I’m not convinced the Eagles actually get better. I’m also pretty sure neither fanbase would have been thrilled with that outcome.

So yeah, I have zero trouble believing Howie Roseman hung up the phone the second old man Jerry even mentioned Carter’s name.

At the end of the day, that’s where this whole thing was always going to die. The Eagles weren’t going to move their best young defensive cornerstone, and the Cowboys weren’t going to help Philly without getting one back. Fun to talk about, but never realistic.
