Eagles hire Jeff Stoutland’s replacement, as they officially turn the page on an era
After years of offensive line dominance, the Jeff Stoutland chapter in Philadelphia is officially closed. The Eagles are hiring Chris Kuper as their new offensive line coach, replacing one of the most respected position coaches in franchise history.
In what is still rubbing fans the wrong way, the Eagles have officially turned the page to a brand new offensive coaching staff.

Kuper spent the past four seasons in the same role in Minnesota, where he crossed paths with new Eagles OC Sean Mannion. Now, they’re teaming up in Philly. pic.twitter.com/N6Ap2NRwCN
Kuper arrives in Philly after four seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, where he served as offensive line coach under Kevin O’Connell. And to be blunt — the results weren’t pretty.
Minnesota ranked dead last (32nd) in interior pressure rate allowed in three of the last four seasons, including the 2025 campaign. That’s not a fluke. That’s a trend. And it’s a trend that ultimately cost Kuper his job, as the Vikings chose not to retain him.
To make matters worse, the Vikings cycled through 25 different offensive line combinations in 2025, per Next Gen Stats. Some of that falls on injuries, sure — but instability up front is also a coaching issue. Continuity matters. Development matters. And Minnesota never found either.

Now Kuper steps into Philadelphia, where expectations are incredibly high and is someone supposed to live up to the sky high bar Stoutland set.
Kuper’s Playing Background Brings Some Hope
To be fair, Kuper isn’t walking in blind.
He was a starting offensive lineman for the Denver Broncos from 2006–2013, which matters. Players tend to respond to coaches who’ve lived the grind. After retiring, he transitioned into coaching in 2016, working with the Broncos and Dolphins before landing in Minnesota in 2022.
