For some reason, Emmanuel Acho lied about Jalen Hurts being a loner at the Super Bowl
I genuinely don’t understand Emmanuel Acho’s schtick or how it’s carried him to where he is today. He always sounds polished and thoughtful when he speaks, but sounding smart and actually saying something intelligent aren’t the same thing. More often than not, it’s just well-dressed nonsense.
A few days ago, he decided to share some behind-the-scenes stories from this year’s Super Bowl. One of them? A tale about spotting Jalen Hurts sitting by himself in a corner, which he then spun into this narrative that Hurts is some kind of loner with no friends.
Emmanuel Acho throwing shade at Jalen Hurts for no reason
The second that clip started making the rounds, photos of Hurts chopping it up with teammates and other players were everywhere. Crazy how that works. It’s almost like Emmanuel Acho either exaggerated the whole thing or shaped it to fit whatever strange narrative he’s trying to sell.
I can’t speak for Jalen, but from where I’m sitting, it feels a lot simpler than that. Maybe he just doesn’t feel like entertaining guys like Emmanuel Acho or even LeSean McCoy. And honestly, why would he? If your entire job revolves around stirring the pot and gossiping about other grown men, don’t be shocked when those same guys don’t line up to chat with you.
Because Hurts isn’t overly friendly with the media crowd and probably comes off as guarded, Acho seems to take it personally. He’s not used to players declining the invite, skipping the podcast, or not giving him access. That reads more like ego than insight.
And if anything, it just makes me like Jalen Hurts more. I’m already not the biggest fan of most sports media personalities, so watching him keep them at arm’s length? That’s a feature, not a bug.
