“I’m Getting Fucked Up Tonight” – Vincent Trocheck and the rest of the United States of America
Vincent Trocheck said what every single person on that roster was already thinking and honestly it might be the most honest quote in the history of American sports.

46 Years in the Making: Jack Hughes Gives USA Hockey Olympic Gold
If I’m an NHL GM with a player on Team USA’s roster right now, I am writing off the next two weeks entirely. I don’t want to hear about practice or game preparation either.
These guys just won the first Olympic gold medal in men’s hockey since 1980 and they have earned the right to celebrate this thing until further notice.
Yes they are professional hockey players. Yes they could probably lace up the skates while still drunk and play a serviceable game. That is not the point. The point is they don’t have to and they shouldn’t have to. Let them have this.
Here is what this win actually means beyond the celebration. The Miracle on Ice has been the defining moment of USA Hockey for 46 years. That movie has lived rent free in the head of every American hockey fan as the greatest thing this program has ever accomplished. And it still is a legendary moment in sports history, nothing about today changes that. But it is no longer the only moment. It is no longer the ceiling. It no longer takes a miracle.
That’s the part that is hard to fully process right now. Nobody will ever have to watch that movie and wonder when it’s going to happen again. Because it happened again. These guys went to Italy and made their own moment.
They had their shot in 2002 and came up short. They were one goal away in 2010 before Crosby broke everyone’s heart. They won a meaningless shootout in 2014. Today they closed it out in overtime and changed the trajectory of USA Hockey forever.
Promises Kept: USA Hockey honors Johnny Gaudreau after Gold Medal win
Every single player on that roster deserves whatever celebration is coming. If they show up to their NHL teams with a hangover that lasts until the Stanley Cup Playoffs, that is a completely acceptable outcome. They earned it.
Get after it boys. You deserve every second of this.
