US Soccer legend Tim Howard demands apology from ‘Love is Blind’ contestant Alex for calling him a ‘weirdo’

Legendary American goalkeeper Tim Howard caught a diabolical stray from a contestant on the hit dating show Love is Blind, and, needless to say, he was none too happy about it. Alex Henderson, former professional goalie and current jackass, called Howard a “weirdo” to his fiancée, Ashley Carpenter, in what I can only assume was part of a weird play to impress her.

Tim Howard went on his equally legendary USMNT teammate Landon Donovan’s podcast and discussed the slight from the Love is Blind contestant:

Now, I actually have to admit I saw this moment on the show over the weekend while snowed in with my lovely girlfriend and found it pretty odd. As a former youth soccer goalkeeper myself, I considered Tim Howard practically a god growing up. I get Alex is older, so he doesn’t see him in that same light, but talking down on a legend of the American game to get a girl to like you is just strange behavior.

Also, all goalies are weirdos. It takes a certain type of person to willingly be the last line of defense and take shot after shot in their direction. That’s just science.

Plus, Tim Howard is literally the greatest goalie to suit up for the USMNT. This is the same guy who single-handedly kept his team in a World Cup game against Belgium with a record 16 saves. Combine that with a successful career in Europe, something that was nearly impossible for an American at the time, and you see why this assessment from Alex is more fueled by envy than anything.

Hell, even if he is a bit odd, you hold your tongue, you sniveling washed-up ingrate.

This may just be me reading the tea leaves a little too intensely, but it’s clear Howard does not like this guy at all. If they were boys or he was indifferent, he’d probably crack a joke and move on. But issuing an ultimatum on an apology and finishing it with “If not, then I’ll have more things to say about you. So we’ll leave it there” tells me he was not a fan of him after whatever interactions they had.

After watching a good chunk of the show so far, I can see why. This Alex guy is the real weirdo. His stories don’t add up, he doesn’t shut up about soccer despite being retired for years, and he’s just generally a conniving freak. I do not like him one bit.

I’m not fully caught up on the season, but I can only imagine that he makes my case against him stronger with each episode. I wouldn’t like him even if he didn’t insult the greatest American goalkeeper of all time in a desperate attempt to get laid.
