Austin TX Bar Mass Shooting

Three people are dead after a shooting outside an Austin bar, FBI is investigating it as terrorism

A gunman opened fire outside a bar in Austin’s entertainment district early Sunday morning, killing two people and wounding 14 others, including three who are in critical condition, before officers shot and killed him.

According to Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis, the suspect drove past the bar several times before stopping and shooting a pistol out of his SUV window at people sitting on a patio and standing out front.

He then parked, got out of the vehicle carrying a rifle, and continued shooting at people in the area before responding officers ran to the intersection and put him down.

FBI now investigating mass shooting at Austin TX bar as potential “act of terrorism”

The FBI is now involved. Acting Special Agent in Charge Alex Doran of the FBI’s San Antonio office said the shooting is being investigated as a potential act of terrorism based on indicators found on the gunman and inside his vehicle.

The suspect’s name has not been released as of this writing.

This is a developing situation and details are still coming in. What is clear right now is that people went out to a bar on a Saturday night in Austin and did not come home, and two families woke up Sunday morning to the worst news imaginable.
