Tyrese Maxey says he misses Jared McCain as Daryl Morey faces growing backlash
Tyrese Maxey is one of the few bright spots on the Philadelphia 76ers roster right now. Tuesday night, he was basically the only healthy body on the floor as the Sixers got run out of the gym by San Antonio, 131–91.
After the game, Maxey was asked about his former teammate Jared McCain, who’s been on a heater ever since the Sixers traded him to OKC. Maxey didn’t hide how he feels about it.
Tyrese Maxey misses Jared McCain
“I ain’t going to lie and say I don’t miss Jared [McCain]. But I’m happy for him. I’m happy for him. I watch him in OKC and hope he does well every single night, except for when he plays us.”
At this point, there’s really no defending Daryl Morey and the way this roster has been built.
The Sixers have gotten worse year over year, even with guys like Tyrese Maxey still leaving everything on the floor. Joel Embiid remains injury-prone, VJ Edgecombe is still just a rookie, and Paul George looks like a shell of the player he used to be. Trading a budding star like Jared McCain while holding onto Quentin Grimes — who’s on an expiring contract — should be the nail in the coffin for Morey.
First, you had Embiid publicly pleading with Morey not to move someone just to duck the luxury tax. He didn’t listen. Now you have Maxey openly saying he misses the guy Morey traded away. Enough already. He has to go. There’s really no other way around it.
This team isn’t going anywhere as long as he’s the GM. Simple as that.
