Jalen Carter Fined Chiefs

According to reports, teams have called the Eagles about a potential Jalen Carter trade

Jeremy Fowler reported Saturday that teams have called the Eagles about a potential Jalen Carter trade. Teams are apparently going to do what teams do and kick tires on one of the best defensive tackles in football just to see if Howie Roseman bites.

I highly doubt he bites.

Jalen Carter is eligible for an extension right now. He played just 12 games in 2025 due to shoulder injuries and got tossed out of the season opener for spitting on Dak Prescott, which, fine.

Carter still managed 33 tackles, 41 quarterback pressures, 11 quarterback hits, and three sacks in limited time. He has an All-Pro nod and two Pro Bowl selections in his first three seasons. He is 23 years old.

The Eagles just extended Jordan Davis for three years and $78 million. The message there is pretty clear. You do not lock up your good defensive tackle and then trade your great one.

Yes, Jalen Carter is on his fifth-year option right now. The Eagles have until May 1 to decide whether to exercise it. They also have to think about Moro Ojomo’s future and potentially Jaelan Phillips at $25 million per year.

The cap math is real and Howie Roseman knows it better than anyone.

Any Carter trade discussion would reportedly start with a first-round pick plus another first or second-rounder plus potentially a player. That is what it would take and even at that price, the Eagles would be trading away the cornerstone of their defensive line for the next decade.

This has to be smoke, right? Howie Roseman is doing what he always does, letting the market come to him, gathering information, seeing what Jalen Carter might be worth on the open market before deciding how to structure an extension.

That’s not the same as actually being serious about trading Jalen Carter

Extend Jalen Carter. Lock up the trenches. Move on.
