Tyrese Maxey is officially OUT, will have additional testing to determine treatment plan for right finger sprain
Tyrese Maxey has been ruled out for Monday’s game in Cleveland and Tuesday’s game against Memphis with a right fifth finger sprain.
He will also undergo additional testing and a consultation to determine a treatment plan, which means nobody knows when he is actually coming back.
Tyrese Maxey is OUT for what… a week minimum?
Sixers lose to the Hawks, fall to 8th in the East, now Tyrese Maxey is hurt
The Sixers injury report for Monday reads like a horror movie:
- Joel Embiid OUT
- Tyrese Maxey OUT
- VJ Edgecombe QUESTIONABLE
- Paul George SUSPENDED.
I hate to bring it up again but just a few weeks ago, Daryl Morey traded Jared McCain to Oklahoma City because the Sixers had too many guards.
Too many guards! We were told that the roster was crowded at the guard position. We all knew that the Sixers simply wanted to duck the luxury tax.
Jared McCain was the chip he cashed in to do it and now we are looking at a situation where Kyle Lowry is the next man up?
What the hell are we doing?
The Sixers are in 8th place in the East, a half game behind the Magic and the Heat, 4-6 over their last 10, sitting squarely in the Play-In Tournament with 19 games left in the season.
Now they don’t have Maxey, Embiid, or George. Edgecombe is banged up too. The group that was supposed to be so deep at guard that they could afford to trade a 22-year-old scoring machine for cap relief is now likely going to have to run Kyle Lowry out there in a game they absolutely need to win.
It is actually insane, genuinely, clinically insane roster management from a front office that has consistently prioritized the luxury tax line over basketball decisions.
Good luck Monday night, Sixers. You are going to need every bit of it.
