WATCH: Wyndham Clark was talking crazy to Kay Adams about his driver search ahead of THE PLAYERS Championship
Wyndham Clark has made at least four driver changes this season and apparently has a very specific way of looking at the whole thing.
Ahead of THE PLAYERS Championship at TPC Sawgrass, Clark sat down with Kay Adams on Up & Adams and dropped what might be the most unhinged golf equipment analogy of the year.
Wyndham Clark with Kay Adams on Up & Adams:
Wyndham Clark on finding the right driver:
“Sometimes it’s nice to have a week-long girlfriend… I haven’t found the right one. When you find the right one, you lock it down.”
Trust me, I get it. Kay Adams is a national treasure, who’s largely considered the most respected women in the sports media industry. That is not a debate.
But when you’re Wyndham Clark, a brand-free agent who has made at least four driver changes already this season, most recently at the Genesis Invitational in February, and you’re currently ranked 78th on Tour in total driving, while failing to finish any better than T-35 in your last four starts, it’s not the time or place to be doing this.
That resume is not buttoned up enough to shoot your shot at the queen herself, Kay Adams, on her show. Have some dignity, brother.
Wyndham Clark did fully commit to the bit, adding that he’s a free agent and how it’s nice to “spice things up” because the honeymoon stage “is gonna be really nice.”
I mean this guy is out of control, right? Again, I don’t really take issue with the dialogue but we’re talking about Wyndham Clark. It’s like he’s attempting to take a page out of the Tiger Woods Waffle House Waitress Playbook on (checks notes)… Kay Adams.
Unacceptable, really.
The main problem is none of that is showing up on the leaderboard. Wyndham Clark is a three-time PGA Tour winner and the 2023 U.S. Open champion. It’s early, but he has no wins in 2026 and his best finish is a T-13 at the American Express in January. Clark is averaging 310.5 yards off the tee, which ranks 41st on Tour in driving distance.
Solid, I guess, but not the kind of number that makes this type behavior acceptable. Wyndham Clark needs to fix his game before he starts taking these types of shots.
