Scottie Scheffler withdraws from the Texas Children’s Houston Open

Scottie Scheffler has withdrawn from the Texas Children’s Houston Open but thankfully, it has nothing to do with his game.

Scheffler and his wife Meredith are expecting their second child, so he’ll skip the Texas Children’s Houston Open and officially report home for daddy duties.

Scheffler entered the week as the heavy favorite at Memorial Park despite a couple of quiet recent results, finishing outside the top 20 at both the Arnold Palmer Invitational and THE PLAYERS Championship.

He has three runner-up finishes in five starts at this course so the withdrawal stings a little for the field that was already staring down the best player on the planet.

Scottie Scheffler’s last start at the Valero Texas Open was back in 2021 so the next time we see him on a golf course will almost certainly be Augusta National for the Masters.

He’s going to have a newborn at home and two weeks to prepare for the first major of the season. Obviously, Rory McIlroy won the Masters last year but Scottie Scheffler already has a few Green Jackets to his name so he’ll be coming for another one.

Whatever Scottie Scheffler does in that preparation window, I’m sure he’ll will show up at Augusta ready to go. The Masters is in two weeks and Scottie Scheffler will be there.

That is all that matters.
