Tiger Woods TGL Debut Jupiter Links The Masters

The Masters is 2 weeks away and Tiger Woods will play competitive golf Tuesday night for the first time in over a year

Two weeks before the Masters, Tiger Woods is stepping back into a competitive setting for the first time since The Open Championship in July 2024.

Tiger Woods will play in Match 2 of the TGL Finals tonight for Jupiter Links, who need him after dropping a 6-5 nail-biter to Los Angeles Golf Club in the opener Monday night.

He has been sitting out all season recovering from October back surgery, with Akshay Bhatia filling in as the team alternate. Bhatia is in New Delhi this week for the Hero Indian Open. The spot opened up and Tiger Woods is taking it.

Yes, this is a simulator in Palm Beach Gardens. Yes, it is not Amen Corner. But this is Tiger Woods swinging a golf club in a competitive environment for the first time in over a year after an Achilles injury and a back surgery, two weeks before the first major of the season. That matters more than where the ball is being hit.

When Tiger Woods was asked at the Genesis Invitational last month whether Augusta was off the table, he said no. When CBS’s Trevor Immelman pressed him directly on whether there was a real chance he plays the Masters, he said there is.

He has been careful about timelines and honest about the grind of recovery. He said his Achilles is no longer the issue. He said disc replacement takes time. He said his body has been through a lot and he is taking it day by day.

Tonight is the first real sign of what day by day has produced. The golf world has been waiting to see it. Two weeks to Augusta. Tiger Woods plays tonight. 7 PM ET on ESPN. The conversation just changed.
