Mac McClung is now the the all-time leading scorer in G League history

Mac McClung scored 59 points on Tuesday night to go along with 10 assists, five rebounds, and eight threes. It was the third highest single-game scoring total in G League history and his second 50-point game of the season.

He passed Renaldo Major at 5,299 points to become the all-time leading scorer in G League history across the Tip-Off Tournament, regular season, and playoffs combined. He is currently averaging 31.8 points per game this season.

Mac McClung is a G League legend

Most people know Mac McClung because of the NBA Slam Dunk Contest, where he has been one of the most entertaining competitors in recent memory.

Former Sixers fans know him a little more personally than that. He spent time in Philadelphia and now he is down here putting up 59 points in a G League game and breaking all-time records and the question that nobody seems to want to answer is what exactly has to happen for this man to get a legitimate NBA roster spot.

I mean some of this just has to translate… lol

The G League exists as a developmental league. The idea is that you get better down there and eventually someone gives you a real shot. McClung is not a developmental prospect at this point.

Mac McClung is the best player in the history of the league by total points scored and he is doing it while averaging 31.8 a game this season.

At some point the conversation has to shift from whether he can play in the NBA to why organizations keep deciding he cannot. None of this translates to the NBA level? I find that very hard to believe. Make it make sense.
